Ok I no this is somewhat old new but after thinking about if for a while I think Apple's switch to Intel chips is a very good idea not only for the company but for the whole mac camp. Maybe now we well get cheaper macs?? I can't wait tell the new Intel powered iBook or Power mac comes out. I would get one of the new iBooks right now but I don't have the funds at the moment...but when I do I think I'll switch.

Well there is certainly a lot of things going on with me and also with Open Source/Free Software. There have been some really good blog posts about Linux on the desktop, also a very good comments(and funny ones too) over at Slashdot. Here is also another good take on the whole thing. I do argee with what both of these guys are saying. Especially the link there, that's what someone needs todo to get Linux on the desktop. To really get Linux on the desktop, Linux needs to be rolled out in a *big way* in the corporate world because if a ton of corps use Linux as their default desktop, well that would be very good :) But there is definitely some thinks that need to be fixed yet with Linux on the desktop. Ubuntu is doing very very well tho, I recommend you check it out.

I just ordered my first Ruby book today! I ordered Programming Ruby: The Pragmatic Programmers' Guide, I really can't wait for this book to get here. I first gave Ruby a go last summer and I really enjoyed using the language a lot, a hell of a lot more than say Java or C++ hell even python. I starting using Ruby my reading Why's (Poignant) Guide to Ruby. WOW now that's a good piece of writing not just tech writing but any type of writing. Its probably one of the best software dev writings ever! As you can tell I might just like it a bit. Anyway give Ruby a try and I think you may really like using it.

This is really cool. Its a physics engine done in bloody Flash!!! Anyhoo it is pretty neat, you can drag the person around with your mouse pointer and watch them fall and hit objects. Try it out.

Last night I saw my final starwars film in a theather. I must say I did enjoy Revenge of The Sith, some bad dialog aside it was a very good movie much better than the pervious two. Hey the film is already on the internet but that's no real big surprise.

Okay so it may not seem like a big deal but it really is. Since its the first music CD that I have purchased in about 3 years! So what did I pick up you ask?? I bought The Motion Picture Soundtrack to Starwas Episode 3. I kind of had to buy this too because I have the other two for EP1 and EP2. Also John Williams scores really kick major ass. Now to talk about why I don't buy more CDs...well most of the music coming out today is major crap, also there is that whole DRM issue with copy protected cds and such. I will not buy any CDs with copy protection on them!!! I think I'm with the mojority of people when I say this too.

Hey all, well its a new year, I hope it was good as the last for me. I did pretty good in university this semester too I only recevied one B all the rest of my marks were As. I head back to school in a few days, I'm really looking forward to the courses and the parties this term lol. Xmas went well, me and the boys had a good geek Halo 2 fest over xmas break. Hey Windows, fuck off! Well I made sure it did over the weekend because I'm running One of The Best Linux Distros(IMHO) Gentoo Linux on my desktop yet again. I installed Windows XP/w SP2 over I'd say a month or two ago, First it was all right because I could play some games that I couldn't in linux, but then that wore off extremly fast. It became slow and insecure peice of crap that it always has been god I had to install spyware removle software, anti-virus software and more updates(that I dont' think really work, like SP2 has a security hole in it for godsakes). God I don't know why I installed winblows....o right a few games, well never ever again! Anyway I couldn't be more happier with Gentoo at the moment. Now I have to study for final exams. I'll give MS one thing VS Studio is really nice. Anyway that's it for now. BTW Gnome 2.8 is sooooo kickass good job people!

Hey there all. I have tons of things happening/on the go at the moment. First things first, Halo 2. I really like what they did in Halo 2, I think they have made the game much much better than its predocessor. Playing on Xbox Live is pretty cool too but the games does slow down when you have a bunch of people battleing around you.I spent most of last week with my buddies playing it. I have been learning C# (that's C-sharp) with some of my free time at the moment and I must say I like it a hell of a lot more than java. I think .NET is a pretty kickass tech....I mean down with M$ but really tho .NET is pretty cool. I think I may have to play around with mono on win32 too. Mono looks really sweet too and its open source. A dude from Microsoft Canada come by campus the other day and gave a talk on DirectX 9.0 and .NET, it was a pretty cool talk lots of info too bad we ran short on time, damn night classes.

Yeah, I got shit loads of school work todo....which sucks, but o well that's the life a a student I guess. I just finished install Windows XP with SP2 the other day. I just had to test out SP2 on my machine, that and the fact that I think I might have fsck my Gentoo install LOL :) When I install Gentoo again (which may be soon) I'm going todo a stage one install I think. While I have windows install I'm going too full around with C#,Visual C# Express and Sharp Develop. C# seems like a very good thoughtout programming language, I hate to say that tho lol But I know one think MONO ROCKS!!! :)

The weekend and other things

Had a pretty good weekend. Went to a "party" friday night ok well we tried to go to a party but Duck aka Howey found one but there was no one there so back to his sister house it was to drink beer, wine, eat cookies and play cards. It turned out to be a real good time. Saturday me and some of the boys went to see Team America: World Police, I must that movie is kickass!!! I was laughing through out the entier thing!! The soundtrack is pretty good too....America Fuck yeah!! LOL Now its time to study since I have two mid-terms this week...sad.

Lots of School Work and A Good Party

I have shit loads of school work to do for this week and next week. I hate bloody assignments!! I have them up the ying - yang, but o well school is going pretty good so far. My Linear Algebra 2 course and my Discrete Mathematics course are challenging (aka sometimes a piss off too). Both of thoes courese will make me a better problems slover in the long right so I'm ok with it. The downside to all this work is that I haven't had time to do any codeing at all now that's a really big pisser!!!

On friday night my roommates and I held a party at our place. What a kickass party too arond 30 people showed up, everyone got good and loaded!!! Best drunk I had in a long while.

Good Weekend

Having a good weekend so far. This morning(Sunday) Phil (my roommate) and I went and watch Targa Newfoundland for an hour or so. Some of the cars were really kickass I liked the two Ferraris the best tho. It was a good time. Lastnight some of the boys dropped over and we watched Canada put the Czech out of the world cup, the game was a bit of a nail biter there for a few moments. The first full week of classes starts tomorrow, wow. I guess I better start studying a bit now.

First day of classes today at school. So far so good I think both classes I had today are going to be pretty good and both profs seem to be ok, which is alwasy good.

I'm all set up now in my new place. My flat mates seem to be pretty cool, well I knew two of them for 2 or 3 years know so I guess I should know them now lol I got a nice big room too yes sweet.

I'm reading a few real good books now. I have all of Douglas Adams Hitchhiker' Guide to the Galaxy series. I'm currently reading The Restaurant at the End of the Universe. The other book I'm really into into at the moment is Learning Python second edition. That book is one of the best books for learning the python programming language with.

Went camping with a bunch of friends on saturday and sunday. Most of the crew were hos...I mean girls....ladies lol Had a blast good chats, good food and a good laugh was had by all. The weather worked out ok for most of the night too, when we got there the rain was just pouring down so we put up one of the tents in the rain. Then later on it stopped raining and turned into a real nice night, thank the powers that be for that one. When we got up in the morning there were these chip-monks around our campsites so what did we do but feed them lol man thoes buggers can stuff a whole lot into their mouths. Damn I should have took pics o well. Anyway packing now, in the proccess of moving for the school year.

As you might know the Summer Olympics 2004 are started now. Canada seems to be sucking it up so far tho execpt for baseball. Who would have thought. Anyway I just want to say GO CANADA GO!!!! Learning some more about The Java Programming language. Well its more like learning more about the Java APIs. Man Java has some crazy good APIs. Reading Thinking In Java by Bruce Eckel which IMO is a really kick ass java book. I got the book about a year ago but only seriously going through it now. I like java but I wish sun would open source it!!! By that I mean this.

Yeah, yeah I've been watching Joe Schmo 2 . What can I say I really like that goddamn show a lot !! Last Fall I and all my housemates watched the first Joe Schmo every night it came on. I think Joe Schmo 2 is 98% better than the first one , its way more funnier by ten fold. Joe Schmo 2 even has a blog which you can find here . Anyway the season finale of Joe Schmo 2 comes on tonight and I know I'm going to watch it and so should you :)

Many things on the go

Well many things have been on the go over the past week. Tonight I did plan on getting drunk but at last it did not happen, which is quite quite sad I think. See I went down to a local festavaile tonight because I had a free pass to get in(more on that later) also tonight there where live bands playing. I went down with a bunch of friends mostly women. So anyway went to the beer tent bought 6 tickets, what a mistake that was, should have only bought 3 or 4. I drank 3 beer plus one of my friends beer because she didn't want it and I just couldn't let her throw it out!! :) Then they decided that they wanted to leave and go play pool and air hockey insead of hang out at the fest. I still had 3 tickets left and my friend still had 2 left so we were off to sell the tickets to one of my old roomates that was down there and already quite plastered. we got 2 dollars each off of him, I could have gotten more because he didn't know what the fuck was on the go, but I couldn't do that lol. We got to the pool place and he was fuckin closed!!!! I was hoping to play some pool/air hockey and beer but that didn't happen. So off to tims it was, spent a little time there and then everyone went home. So all in all it was only an ok night, I should have fuckin known that thoes hoes eeerrrr I mean ladies weren't going to drink anything lol :) O and about that free pass well I work in one of the booths down at the fest during the day for a few hours it pretty good. The Fire works are tomorrow night so down to the beach it is too watch em.

Open Source Rules and other things

Well of course Open Source software rules planet earth. It's what I use and you should too :) I finally got too see Revolution OS the other night and I must say it was a good documentary. I knew most of the history already but it was very cool hearing and seeing RMS, ESR and Linus among others chat about Free Software, Opensource and Linux history and development. Mozilla Firefox 0.9 was release this week or was it last....in any event I must give a thumbs up to all the people involed with this release, you people did a fine damn job on this peice of software. I can't wait tell 1.0 comes out.

I was recently thinking about buying too new kickass albums. One by Velvet Revolver and the other by Bestie Boys. But then I found out that *BOTH* albums had DRM software on the CDs(here in the great north anyway) and in the case of the Bestie Boys album the DRM software/malware silently installs its self on the host PC!!!!
Here is The Registers article about the whole mess. Ok so having DRM on the CDs mean that I will not be able to use the CDs on my OS of choice which is Gentoo Linux btw. So this means that I will probably have to find other means of getting these albums. So see the Record Industry you just fucked yourself I was going to buy these albums too.

Old School Gaming and Firefox 0.9RC1

I went too one of my friend's house tonight and we all played NES. Ah the good old days of gaming, simple graphics and good game play. We played TMNT 2: Arcade Game, now that's a game that I haven't played in some years and I must say it still owns!! Now I must admit that I haven't been playing a lots of video games in the past few months besides Frozen Bubble(which I play every few day) and a few games of Unreal Tournament 2004. I don't know the reason for this but it seems that I can't sit down and play video games for hours on end any more(unless it is a really really kickass game), I guess I have better and more productive things todo like blog :)

Downloaded Mozilla FireFox 0.9RC1 lastnight, I must say things are really shaping up for a good release of this astounding browser. I'm using it right now to post this entry. The only gripe I have so far is that the theme icons are too big for my liking but I know that can be configured, so that really is not a big issue. O and it has not crashed on me yet and I didn't find any bugs so far either.

A Fun game and other things

I found a nice game to really over think about this week. It's called Petals around the rose, its the best game ever!!! It took me about ten mintues to figure it out, then I let out a loud "Fucksakes!!". After that I quickly IM'ed one of my buddies on msn(I wish we could all use something else) and sent him the link. It took him about an hour to get it or so the story goes :) Then one of my other buddies got it right away. Try it, its the best game ever!!

Now it's time for something compelty different...ok still somewhat geekee tho. I'm currently learning and selfstudying The C++ Programming Language, using a book called Accelerated C++. I really like the book and the language but not all of the language. I can see where things can be overly complex and a pain in the ass especially when you are working on a very large complex progject and trying to track down memory leeks and counting refernces. Or maybe I don't know what the hell I'm takin about :) In any fact I like C++. I know some Java since that's our main implimentation language at school but I don't like Java much but it does have it's uses and place. If you want to start programming and software development I would reccomend Python or Ruby.

I went to see Troy lastnight and I must say I did like the film. Over all I would give it an A, it would have got an A+ if wasn't for the fact that Brad Pitt was a little too naked in some scenes for my liking. The next movie I really want to see now is Spiderman 2.

Crappy rain and wind!!!

Well I kind of went for a little bike ride with the boys. I went down to steve's house it was only a little windy when I was riding down there, then when we went to get on the go for a ride we steped outside and bam it started to fuckin pour rain!!! We waited for a bit for the rain to subside, then went for a short ride. Then the weather started to get really shitty again and we all said this blows!!! So we all went home...sad.
